Plane Returns to BWI After Possible Bird Strike: Report

Southwest flight 484 was taken down once officials said the plane may have been hit by birds.

A flight from BWI to Providence, R.I., returned to Baltimore briefly Monday morning after authorities reported it was potentially struck.

Southwest flight 484 landed at BWI and the plane was swapped at 8 a.m. Monday due to a “potential bird strike,” according to WBAL.

The flight was delayed 99 minutes, based on data from Flight Aware.

This was not the first time that birds have complicated plans for Southwest.

In December 2014, a Southwest plane headed from San Antonio to Detroit landed at BWI after a flock of birds hit the plane and caused chaos in the air, WJZ reported at the time.

Officials said that out of an abundance of caution, Southwest decided to ground the plane carrying Flight 484.
