Play-For-All Playground Opens In Howard County

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — County officials unveiled Blandair Regional Park's third phase Friday morning, which includes a state-of-the-art “play-for-all” playground consisting of six unique areas and is designed to encourage children of all ability levels to play together while accommodating cognitive, communicative, social/emotional and sensory development disabilities.

“Howard County is home to the best parks and this new addition at Blandair is a testament to our commitment to ensure our public spaces meet the needs of our community,” Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said. “As we turn the corner of the pandemic, we look forward to welcoming families, neighbors and friends to gather, play and enjoy this incredible space.”

Other amenities include synthetic bocce ball and croquet courts, two horseshoe pits, another pavilion, restrooms, storage for sports equipment, a pedestrian pathway, 142 parking spaces, bio-retention areas, inlaid checkerboards, ping-pong tables and a Park Maintenance Center with offices.

Blandair Regional Park is located at 5700 Oakland Mills Road in Columbia.
