Howard County Closings, Cancellations For November 15
Schools, parks, libraries and curbside collections in Howard County are impacted by the snow. Here's a list of the latest cancellations.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Officials with the Howard County Public School System announced schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 15. Authorities made the decision Thursday morning.
In addition to classes, all evening and after-school activities at schools are canceled, including athletic practices and games.
Howard County Government is closing at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15.

All Howard County Library System branches are closed on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Howard County MultiService Center at 9900 Washington Boulevard in Laurel is closed due to the inclement weather on Thursday, Nov. 15. Call the Department of Community Resources and Services for assistance at 410-313-6400.

Icy conditions have resulted in the closure of some of Howard County parks and trails, according to Howard County government officials. All other Howard County Recreation and Parks facilities will close by 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Due to inclement weather, curbside collection trucks cannot get to roads with steep inclines. If the weather changes, those areas will be serviced later Thursday or on Friday, Nov. 16. For questions and/or more information, call the Bureau of Environmental Services at 410-313-6444.
Cancellations/Postponements
The Howard County Department of Community Resources and Services Thanksgiving Dinner at Ten Oaks Ballroom has been canceled. Call 410-313-5440 for more info.
The open house for the Route 1 Corridor Master Plan at the Elkridge branch is canceled.
The CPR class at the Elkridge firehouse was canceled due to inclement weather. It has been rescheduled for 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive.
The Wilde Lake High School performance of "Peter and the Starcatcher" has been canceled for Thursday, Nov. 15. A matinee presentation has been added for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, and all tickets purchased for Thursday's performance will be honored at the matinee.
The Girls State 2A Soccer Championships game has been moved to Friday, Nov. 16, at 3:30 p.m. at Loyola University's Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore. Admission is $10 or MPSSAA Pass accepted.
The Boys State 2A Soccer Championships game has been moved to Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at Loyola University's Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore. Admission is $10 or MPSSAA Pass accepted.
The Phelps Luck Turkey Trot has been postponed and will be Monday, Nov. 19.

Weather Alerts
A winter storm warning has been issued for part of Howard County, effective until 4 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.
Between 4 and 6 inches of snow may accumulate, according to the winter storm warning. Up to 0.1 inch ice may also accumulate, the National Weather Service reported.
Howard County is under a winter weather advisory from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. The advisory calls for up to 2 inches of sleet and snow as well as a glaze of ice.
