Resident Burned In Columbia Apartment Complex Fire: Officials
Two dozen units were damaged either by fire, smoke and/or water. The fire also burned through the structure's roof.
COLUMBIA, MD — A resident of an apartment complex suffered minor burns when a fire broke out Sunday at approximately 7 p.m. at the structure located in the 11300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway. When firefighters arrived, they found three balconies engulfed in flames on the backside of the complex. All residents had safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.
Six residents were evaluated by paramedics and five refused to be taken to the hospital. The resident with minor burns to the hand was taken to Bayview for treatment. The fire took just shy of an hour to get under control. According to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, 24 units were damaged either by fire, smoke and/or water. The fire also burned through the structure's roof. The people who were displaced are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
