Residents Urged To Cover Faces: Howard County Exec Ball

Wearing a face covering and social distancing is "how we can flatten the curve and slow the spread of the COVID-19," Ball said.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Now that the Centers for Disease Control advises people to wear cloth face coverings when out in public settings, particularly where maintaining a minimum distance of six feet apart can be challenging, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball has encouraged all residents to abide by this guideline.

“Since the outbreak of this pandemic, many residents want to know how they can help, and this is an important action,” Ball said in a statement. “Wearing a face covering in public, along with continued social distancing, is how we can flatten the curve and slow the spread of the COVID-19. While the CDC recommendation is voluntary, the Howard County Health Department is strongly recommending that residents wear a face covering when around others.”

Ball noted that cloth face coverings created from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used and that cloth face coverings should not be placed on children younger than two, anyone who has difficulty breathing, is unconscious, is incapacitated or cannot remove the mask without assistance.
