COLUMBIA, MD — A restaurant specializing in chicken and biscuits is opening in Columbia this month. Rise Southern Biscuits operates in 15 locations, 10 of which are in North Carolina.

The eatery started in 2012 in Durham, North Carolina, and focuses on buttermilk biscuits made from scratch every half hour. In addition to biscuits and Counter Culture coffee, Rise is known for its "righteous chicken," coated in buttermilk and fried to perfection. Also on the menu are sweets such as cinnamon pecan biscuit rolls and cheddar tots.

Rise Southern Biscuits will open across from Wegmans — at 8872 McGaw Road — on Saturday, April 27.
