Roll Up N Dye Breathes New Life Into Columbia Long Reach Village
Columbia's Roll Up N Dye creates a limited supply of unique tie-dye products and specializes in team building, birthday parties and more.

COLUMBIA, MD — For years, Erin Cassell has loved tie-dying apparel. In 2013, she decided to turn that passion into a business based out of Howard County. Roll Up N Dye specializes in creative team building events for corporate clients, sports teams, youth and community groups. The business also hosts festive birthday parties for all ages.
"We often hear, 'This was the best birthday party ever,'" Cassell told Patch.
During team-building exercises that are suitable for many ages, participants take home a tie-dye shirt. While at Roll Up N Dye, clients make shareable tapestries and cards for children undergoing medical treatments at the hospital.

Only a few products are made for sale, such as Roll Up N Dyne travel flatware sets, along with dog bandannas.
"I hope more and more people will carry their own flatware and reusable straws instead of using the one-time use utensils and straws that are filling the landfills. Em-Paw-Thy Bandannas are bandannas I make for dogs. The goal is to start conversations about empathy. I also make socks, silk scarves and onesies. But I am happiest when I teach others how to make their own shirts," she said.

Roll Up N Dye recently relocated to the Long Reach Village Center, which was built in the late 1970s and is widely used by the neighborhood residents to meet a variety of office and commercial needs. Prior to the center opening, residents of Long Reach gathered for a village meeting and voted for arts and crafts as the prevailing theme for the village center. Roll Up N Dye joins the Columbia Arts Center, the Stonehouse Community Center, the African Art Museum of Maryland and new Howard County Arts Council artists’ studios, as part of the emerging arts, culture and entrepreneurship hub.
"I am so grateful to be a part of something so beautiful. I believe that art brings people together," Cassell said.
