Route 29 Bridge Construction Underway
Have you seen the tube for the Route 29 overpass being put together?
COLUMBIA, MD - From Oakland Mills Community Association: Construction of the pedestrian bridge "geodesic tube" structure is underway! The structure is being assembled at a site near the bridge crossing. Howard County informed us that next week, the contractor will be lifting the tube onto the bridge, and securing it. After the structure is secure, fencing will be erected on both sides of the bridge, and lighting will be installed.
The entire process is weather dependent, with the hope that the bridge will be complete by the third week in January. We will keep the community updated as we get closer to re-opening the bridge. Thank you for being patient during the bridge closure.
