UPDATED: Howard County Cancellations Due To Snowstorm

A snowstorm is expected to dump several inches of snow on Howard County by Tuesday. See if schools are closed or activities canceled.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD (UPDATED 6:10 a.m.) — A snowstorm is expected to dump several inches of snow on Howard County until Tuesday afternoon.

Patch will be keeping an eye on school closings across the region for Tuesday, March 14, and will be updating this post with the latest information.

Cancellations for Tuesday, March 14

  • All Howard County public schools are closed Tuesday, March 14. All evening activities in schools, both school-sponsored and community-sponsored, are canceled. This includes high school athletic practices and games.
  • Howard Community College is closed on Tuesday, March 14.
  • Howard County 50+ Centers will be closed on Tuesday, March 14.
  • Howard County Government is closed Tuesday, March 14.
  • Howard County has canceled trash, recycling and food scrap collection on Tuesday, March 14. Pickup will slide one day for the remainder of the week.
  • Howard County Circuit and District Courts are closed on Tuesday, March 14.
  • All Loyola University of Maryland campuses are closed on Tuesday, March 14. All classes are canceled. Essential personnel should still report as scheduled.

Cancellations for Monday, March 13

HCPSS elementary parents: Howard County Children's Chorus rehearsal for Lyric and Cantus Choir on Monday night is canceled due to impending weather.

HCPSS: All HCPSS school-sponsored and community-sponsored events, including high school athletic practices and games scheduled for this afternoon/evening, are CANCELED, due to forecasted weather conditions. All childcare programs, sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Department of Recreation & Parks in Howard County public schools, will remain open. Activities that have already begun may be completed.

Maryland School for the Deaf, Columbia campus: Residential halls are closed tonight, Monday, March 13. Daily buses will leave on a regular Monday schedule. Students without a daily bus are leaving MSD today at 11 a.m. and are being driven home by MSD staff. ASP and athletic practices will continue as scheduled. The cafeteria will be closed Monday evening. No decision has yet been made about Tuesday.
