Woman With Warrant Told Joliet Police She Was A Twin: Cops

JOLIET, IL - A 47-year-old Braidwood woman was arrested during the wee hours of Tuesday morning after she tried to fool the Joliet Police Department, insisting she didn't have an outstanding warrant for her arrest, but that the police should be out looking for her so-called twin sister. The police didn't buy her story and at 3:30 a.m. Elizabeth Lembke was taken for a ride to the Will County Jail where she was charged with obstructing justice, obstructing identification and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Lembke did have an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Grundy County, jail logs indicate.

Joliet Police reports indicate that Lembke was arrested in the 1800 block of West Jefferson Street after patrol officers saw her Chevrolet make multiple traffic violations.

"On talking to Lembke, she originally gave officers false information regarding her identification. Officers confronted Lembke with her true name and Lembke tried to convince officers she was a twin," reports show.

The Joliet Police were skeptical and found her story fishy.

"Officers confronted her on her story and Lembke eventually told the truth about who she was. Lembke stated that she knew she had a warrant, which is why she lied to the officers. Lembke also told officers, when asked, that there was drug paraphernalia in her purse, which officers recovered," police reports reflect.

Once the Braidwood woman was taken to Joliet's downtown station, however, "Lembke refused to cooperate with the booking process," the police said.

Jail logs indicate that Lembke's bail has been set at $35,000.
