Columbia Crash Kills 1 Driver And Injures Another, Police Say
An intersection in Columbia Tuesday morning was shut down after a fatal crash, Howard County police reported.

COLUMBIA, MD — A woman died in a serious crash in Columbia Tuesday morning, according to the Howard County Police Department. Two vehicles were involved in the collision, which occurred at the intersection of Guilford Road and Oakland Mills Road, police said. Officials reported two drivers were hospitalized following the crash, one of whom died.
Meghan Lynne Schwartz, 32, of Laurel, was pronounced deceased at Howard County General Hospital, according to authorities.
Sean Donte Brown, 36, of Savage, was in stable condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

According to officials, Schwartz was driving her 2014 Jeep Wrangler west on Guilford Road when she hit a truck that was headed south on Oakland Mills Road at 5:22 a.m.
Preliminary investigation indicates the Jeep did not stop at the four-way stop sign before proceeding into the intersection, where the truck was in motion.

The 2005 Isuzu truck was driven by Brown, who was the only person in the vehicle at the time, police said. Schwartz was also the only person in her vehicle, according to officials.
During the morning commute, drivers were asked to avoid the area as officials responded to the crash.
Guilford Road was closed at Oakland Mills Road for the crash investigation and had reopened by 11 a.m.
Transportation officials advised motorists to slow down and allow extra time due to snow on Tuesday.
