Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Hail, 60 MPH Winds
BREAKING NEWS: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning calling for hail and powerful wind gusts. People should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning. Weather officials advise heading to an interior room on the lowest floor.
Trees may fall from damaging winds, so people should not drive in wooded areas until the storm passes.
The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Carroll, Baltimore and Howard counties and Baltimore City until 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 10.

At 5:17 p.m., weather officials said a severe thunderstorm near Mount Airy was moving east at 30 mph. Along with it were 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, based on radar data.
Areas impacted may include Baltimore, Pikesville, Cockeysville, Westminster, Ellicott City, Towson, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Randallstown, Parkville, Owings Mills, Eldersburg, Carney, Milford Mill, Reisterstown, Lochearn, Mays Chapel, Timonium, Mount Airy and Hampstead.

At 5:07 p.m, authorities said a strong thunderstorm near Columbia was moving east at 30 mph. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph and dime size hail were possible, officials advised.
"This storm may intensify," the weather service said in a statement.
Officials say damaging winds may cause trees and branches to fall on homes and vehicles. Roads may be blocked, and power outages are possible.
