Shooter Convicted Of Illegally Having A Firearm: Howard County Prosecutor

A North East 19-year-old has been sentenced after pleading guilty to illegally possessing a firearm due to a prior conviction for a crime.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 19-year-old man who pleaded guilty in August has been sentenced.

Police officers were dispatched March 20 to the intersection of Montgomery Road and Long Gate Parkway after being notified of a bullet going through a residence in the area. When officers arrived, they found Jason Alexander Teixeira of North East walking in the parking lot of the YMCA next to that intersection and watched him place an object next to a bush, the prosecutor noted.

Next to that bush, officers found a handgun. Officers then found 26 spent shell casings at the entrance of the YMCA parking lot. Surveillance footage showed that about 10 minutes prior to Teixeira being stopped, there appeared to be a shootout between at least three different shooters and at least one group fled in a car. It appeared Teixeira may have come back to the scene to retrieve a car key fob that was dropped when the group fled, the prosecutor stated.
