Sidewalk Access Affected By Storm Water Pond Repairs Starting In January

A sidewalk will be temporarily closed while crews work on repairing a storm water management pond in Columbia starting in January.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Starting Jan. 15, county crews will begin repairing a storm water management pond located on Columbia Association property behind 9566 Many Mile Mews. Weather permitting, the project should be completed by late September 2024.

The project calls for the deteriorating existing infrastructure to be replaced. The pond will be regraded to create several small pools to provide water quality treatment and rock will be placed to stabilize the channels flowing into the pond. Rock also will be placed at the outfall to reduce erosion and a section of the existing sanitary sewer line located within the dam will be lined to protect the structural integrity of the pipe, the county stated.

While the work is being done, the sidewalk along the south side of White Spring Way between 9475 and 9485 White Spring Way will be temporarily closed to allow for construction access. Signs will be posted in the project area to alert the public of the project and corresponding sidewalk closure, officials stated.
