Snow Likely Monday-Tuesday, Totals Still Unclear

We could see a few inches, according to forecasters. Are you ready for more snow?

With a winter storm event heading closer to Maryland, it’s looking more likely we’ll see a few inches, but forecasters are urging caution on the exact accumulations.

When? Rain will transition to snow Monday night and into Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The best chance for accumulation will be Tuesday morning into Tuesday evening.

How much? Accumulation is expected to be 1-3 inches in areas south of D.C. North of the capital and the Baltimore metro could see 3-6 inches, according to the Weather Channel.

“Uncertainty exists with where some locally heavier totals may be found in the region,” Weather Channel forecasters report.

The Capital Weather Gang rates the snow as a ”nuisance to minor snowfall event.” Unlike the blizzard that arrived on time and with the expected accumulation, this storm is difficult to forecast, according to the Gang.

“Chief among the reasons for uncertainty is the unusual setup for the area in which it’s possible that just a small zone picks up solid snowfall while places 30-60 miles away see little or none,” they write.
