Snow Closures In Howard County On Wednesday, March 21, 2018

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Public schools in Howard County will be closed on Wednesday, March 21, school officials announced Tuesday night. The closure comes as the region braces for several inches of snow.

All Howard County public schools and school offices will be closed on Wednesday, March 21. After-school and evening activities, including athletic events and community-sponsored activities, are canceled.

A winter storm warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, calling for 5 to 10 inches of snow in Howard County. As of 9 p.m. on Tuesday, unofficial data submitted to the National Weather Service showed that 1.3 inches of snow had fallen in Columbia.

Here are additional schedule changes in Howard County for Wednesday, March 21:

• Howard Community College is closed.
• Howard County government offices are closed.
• Curbside trash, recycling, food scrap and yard trim pickup are canceled in Howard County; the slide schedule will be in effect starting Thursday, and receptacles must be cleared of snow.
• Alpha Ridge landfill is closed.
• County Executive Allan H. Kittleman's Town Hall scheduled for Wednesday evening at the Gary J. Arthur Community Center is canceled.
• Maryland School for the Deaf is closed for students and employees on Wednesday, March 21; and 12-month employees may use liberal leave or work from home with supervisor's permission.
• CA Headquarters, Customer and Member Service Center and Open Space administrative offices are closed today. Youth and teen center and school-age services are closed/canceled.
• Columbia Art Center is closed.
• Columbia Dog Park is closed.
• Fairway Hills Golf Club is closed.
• Hobbit's Glen Golf Club is closed.
