Socks Appeal Opening At Mall In Columbia

Get ready to have your socks knocked off — the entrepreneur behind Ma Petite Shoe is coming to The Mall in Columbia with a pop-up shop.

COLUMBIA, MD — The founder of Ma Petite Shoe, a wildly popular shoe store that also sells chocolate in Baltimore's Hampden neighborhood, is coming home. The businesswoman — who grew up in Columbia — is opening a new pop-up store, Socks Appeal, at The Mall in Columbia.

The shop will specialize in socks that follow the motto "No Boring Socks," as well as other accessories.

"I'm excited to bring my creativity back to Columbia this holiday season," said Susannah Siger, who graduated from Wilde Lake High School before founding Ma Petite Shoe 16 years ago. "Growing up in Columbia, I loved going to the mall with my family. It was, and still is, the community center of Columbia."

Socks Appeal will be set up as a temporary, or "pop-up" shop, outside Nordstrom on the lower level at The Mall in Columbia. It will be open from Oct. 5 to Dec. 31, just in time for people looking to purchase unique accessories for those on their holiday shopping lists.

Novelty and luxury socks, as well as handbags, jackets, sweaters and other accessories will be for sale. The socks range from cashmere to compression to high-cotton, and there will be an array of novelty designs, particularly rocket, space and science-themed. It will have a different blend of items than the Hampden store The Sock Shop, which is opening next to Ma Petite Shoe later this month. Get a preview of the socks here.
