Stabbing In Columbia Sends Teen To Hospital

Authorities said the teen was stabbed on a footpath in Columbia.

COLUMBIA, MD — A teen is in serious condition due to a stabbing in Columbia that occurred Monday, according to police. The stabbing was believed to have taken place Monday afternoon on a footpath in the Wilde Lake area.

At 4:46 p.m., someone called 911 to report that a person appeared to be injured in the 10300 block of Daystar Court. Responding officers found a man with two stab wounds, police said.

Shane McCray, 18, of Green Mountain Circle in Columbia, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries, according to officials.

Investigators are working to determine whether the suspect and victim knew one another and to confirm a motive in the case. Police said that the stabbing was believed to have occurred on a footpath nearby the location where the teen was found.
