Stolen From His Owner, Lost Blind Dog Finds His Way Home
The dog was found as a stray by the Howard County Animal Control & Shelter last week. Now, Bleu is back home with his owner, safe and sound.
COLUMBIA, MD — It's heartbreaking when a beloved pet goes missing. But it's a beautiful reunion when a missing pet finally is reunited with its owner. Bleu, who is 10 years old and partially blind, was first reported missing from his owner's 1,200-acre Dorchester County farm in November 2019.
But eventually, Bleu found his way home.
Even though Bleu was microchipped and his owner used a tracking team to try and find him, the shelter noted, they kept hitting a brick wall. Finally, miles and miles from home, Bleu was picked up as a stray by the Howard County Animal Control & Shelter April 14. He was scanned and the chip revealed who his real owner was. Shelter staff contacted his owner who drove right away to the shelter.

According to the shelter, Bleu had been cared for by a woman in Laurel who said she had found the dog as a stray. The shelter believes someone had picked him up and taken him from his first home. He had been near the ocean, forlorn and hungry, when she took him home to care for him.
The shelter staff had one thing to say.
