Student Hit School Resource Officer Causing Injuries: Police

COLUMBIA, MD — A student at Harper's Choice Middle School in Columbia will be charged with assault after tussling with a school resource officer. Howard County police officers disclosed that the officer involved had to be treated for minor injuries.

"Preliminary information is that the student was behaving in a disorderly fashion and school staff called for the officer's assistance," police spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn told WBFF. "According to witnesses, when the officer arrived, the student struck her and a scuffle broke out between the two. This incident will be reviewed, which is our standard protocol."
