Suspects Carjack Woman in Columbia, Hit ATMs: Police

Two men are suspected in a carjacking that began when one knocked on the window with a gun, Howard County police say.

A woman was carjacked Tuesday night in Columbia, according to the Howard County Police Department.

At 11:20 p.m., the woman was in her vehicle in the 5700 block of Cedar Lane when one man knocked on her car window with a handgun, police reported.

He opened the door and demanded her things, while he and another suspect got into the vehicle, according to the report.

The suspects drove to various ATMs and attempted to withdraw money, according to police, who could not say whether money was taken, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.

Then the suspects dropped off the victim in Howard County and drove away in the vehicle, police said. Authorities did not disclose where the victim was dropped off due to the continuing investigation.

The vehicle was later recovered in the 12000 block of White Cord Way in Columbia, police reported.

The suspects are described as two black men in their mid 20s who had dark skin.

  • One had his face covered and was wearing camouflage pants and a dark (possibly gray) hoodie, according to police.
  • The second was wearing dark thick-rimmed glasses, winter gloves, dark pants and a dark (possibly gray) hoodie, police reported.
