Tethered Dogs Left Alone Outside Could Result In Charges Filed: Howard County Police

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — With chillier temps looming for Howard County, the police department reminds residents that under Howard County law, animals housed outside must have access to what they consider to be appropriate shelter, bedding and an unfrozen water source at all times. Dogs may not be tethered outside when not under direct supervision.

"This means you must be out there with them," the Howard County Police Department noted. "Keep in mind, the above requirements are the bare minimum. If it’s too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for your dog or cat. Howard County Animal Control urges everyone to bring their companion animals inside."
