The Turn House Restaurant in Columbia Spotlights Local, Seasonal Ingredients
Approximately 70 percent of items on the menu at Columbia's new restaurant The Turn House come from local producers and farms.

COLUMBIA, MD — A new restaurant has opened in a familiar location in Columbia.
The Turn House is now offering seasonal dishes at Hobbits Glen Golf Course.
The restaurant, which changed owners in recent months, is located where the Coho Grill used to be.

The Turn House focuses on locally sourced food, with partners including Elioak Farm and Triadelphia Lakeview Farms.
Approximately 70 percent of the menu contains ingredients sourced within 30 miles, according to Executive Chef Thomas Zippelli, who owns the restaurant and grew up in Ellicott City.

Zippelli attended Johnson & Wales University for culinary school in Rhode Island, then Zippelli worked at Eleven Madison Park in New York, New York, and The French Laundry in Napa Valley, California.
“My dream was to return to Maryland and open a restaurant in my hometown,” Zippelli said. "My mission is to serve seasonal and sustainable food that our guests can trust and enjoy."
Dishes brimming with fall flavors are on the menu, which changes seasonally. Here's a taste:
- Small plate—Burrata with roasted pumpkin, grilled chicory, Belgian endive, fried sage, pumpkin seed vinaigrette and grilled bread ($13)
- Salad—Beet salad with local beets, apples, Romaine, chives, parsley and Crème Fraiche dressing ($14)
- Entree—Mishima Farms Wagyu flank steak, served with roasted shallots, grilled endives, green onion and confit potatoes ($35)
- Entree—Willow Bottom burger with Triadelphia Lake View Farms grass-fed beef, pimento cheese dip and Jimmy Nardello mayo ($14)
- Dessert—Butternut squash panna cotta with cinnamon ice cream, pumpkin seed granola and candied bacon ($8)
The 60-seat restaurant contains a "living wall" of ferns, moss and other plants. There's also a special event space with small garden. Outside, a large outdoor patio with fire pit overlooks the golf course.
A bar area that can seat 52 offers cocktails and craft beers by the bottle and Maryland beers on tap.
In fact, Heavy Seas has created its own brew just for the restaurant, which is located on Willow Bottom Drive; the beer is called Willow Bottom.
The Turn House is open for lunch Monday–Saturday, 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m. On Sunday, brunch is served 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Dinner hours are Tuesday–Thursday and Sunday, 5–9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 5–10 p.m.
The Turn House is located at 11130 Willow Bottom Drive, Columbia.
