Weather Alert for Columbia
Heavy rainfall may cause flooding in low-lying areas, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for parts of Maryland from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday night, including Columbia.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
The watch includes Montgomery, Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Howard and southern Baltimore counties, as well as the District of Columbia and some Virginia communities.

Heavy rainfall is expected to move across the region today, bringing rainfall from one inch to three inches, with locally higher amounts possible, according to the NWS.

“The heavy rainfall may cause flooding of low lying areas, especially in urban ares and locations especially prone to freshwater flooding,” the NWS warns.
