A winter storm warning means heavy snow is anticipated or occurring, and travel conditions will be difficult. Roads will become snow-covered and slippery, and visibility may be limited to less than a half mile.
During the warning period, the weather service says people should only travel in an emergency and should be sure to have a flashlight, blanket, food and water in their vehicles.
