State Football Championship: Lions Fall to Pumas
The Howard Lions faced off against the Wise Pumas Friday in Baltimore.

The Howard Lions closed out the season as the second best football team in class 4A of the MPSSAA.
The Lions were defeated by Prince George’s County’s Wise Pumas, 55-6, as the team from Prince George’s County clinched their second state title in four years.

The Howard Lions take on the Henry A. Wise Pumas at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the class 4A state football title, according to the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association.
The last time the Lions won a state football championship was in 1974.
The state championship game takes place at M&T Bank Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4. Admission is $10.
The game will be broadcast on the CW and WJLA TV stations:
- Baltimore area—Verizon 514; Comcast 14, 214 or 804; Direct TV 54, Dish 54 or 8734
- Washington area—Verizon 467, Comcast 205, Cox 806
The NFHS Network is streaming the game live online for a fee and will reportedly broadcast the game for free in the days after the game.
