Woman Attacked Leaving Columbia Library: Police

Police said four teens tried to rob a woman leaving the central branch on Little Patuxent Parkway.

COLUMBIA, MD — A group of young people tried to rob a woman as she was leaving the Central Branch of the Howard County Public Library this week, according to police. She was assaulted, but officials said there were no serious injuries.

The woman had been leaving the library in the 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway at 6:02 p.m. on June 16 when four boys approached her and assaulted her, according to authorities. The assault occurred around closing time, since the library shuts down at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Police said the youths ran off after an unsuccessful attempt to take her purse.

One of the suspects was described as a black teen who was 5-feet-6-inches tall with short hair, wearing a gray t-shirt and blue jeans.
