Autism In The Park Special Event April 2 To Celebrate World Autism Acceptance Day

A special event called Autism in the Park will be held April 2 on World Autism Acceptance Day at Howard County's Laura's Place Playground.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Celebrate World Autism Acceptance Day April 2 at a special event called Autism in the Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Laura's Place Playground located in the north area of Blandair Regional Park in Columbia Laura’s Place is an inclusive play space that opened last spring at Blandair so children of all abilities can play together.

The afternoon will include opportunities to visit with first responders, elected representatives, learn about the autism community, enjoy interactive play, entertainers, face painting, music and free ice cream. The free event is being sponsored by the Howard County Autism Society and the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks - Therapeutic Recreation in partnership with the Howard County Police Department, Equipment Connections for Children, Howard County Fire and Rescue and Special Olympics Maryland – Howard County.

Blandair Park is located at 5750 Oakland Mills Road in Columbia.
