Youth Golf, Tennis Programs Available In Howard County Through New Business

HOWARD COUNTY, MD —Growing up, physical education teacher Eric Slosek loved sports. He also knows the importance of getting kids moving, which is one reason why he's decided to launch the first TGA Premier Sport in Maryland.

A native of central New York, Slosek earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Castleton University in Vermont. He had planned to continue his teaching career in Vermont when a friend told him about an open position for a physical education teacher in Baltimore. Slosek was offered the position, so he packed his bags and moved to Baltimore.

But after eight years in that position as a physical education teacher, Slosek wanted to do more. He contacted Youth Athletes United about possible franchise opportunities and there he discovered TGA Premier Sports, which combined his love for golf and tennis with his passion for teaching. Even though he's spent the past six years working as an after-school sports enrichment/athletic director, he would be able to work hands on with kids in his new role with TGA Premier Sports.

"TGA introduces the life-long sports of golf and tennis at a young age through programs that provide a fun and enriching experience for children while being a convenient and affordable option for parents. Our dedicated coaching staff help students develop their skills and a passion for golf or tennis while using the sports as a vehicle for delivering curriculums that are loaded with educational concepts including STEM and life skills such as respect, honesty, perseverance and sportsmanship," Slosek told Patch.

TGA stands for "Teach, Grow, Achieve," Slosek added.

"These concepts are the foundation of every program we offer. We invite you to give your child the advantage of learning and playing golf or tennis in an environment that will benefit them for a lifetime," he said.

TGA of Howard County offers golf and tennis programs in Howard County. Golf is offered mostly as before and afterschool programs at various Howard County Public Schools and at Willow
Springs Golf Course in West Friendship. Tennis programs are located throughout the
county, including with a couple of homeowners associations, Savage Park (summer camps) and
Ridgely Run Community Center. Private and group lessons also are available.

"My mission and goal is to give the families of Howard County more opportunities to expose and/or give them the opportunity to put clubs and rackets in the hands at a younger age. We are here to fill the demand for two lifelong activities and sports for children and allow them the opportunity to experience sports in a fun environment," Slosek said.
