Fuji Japanese Steakhouse and Lava Bar Hosts Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening

Fuji’s Japanese Steakhouse opened its second Gambrills/Crofton location this weekend with an official ribbon cutting Sunday, October 21st. The new location at 1406 South Main Chapel Way in the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre sits across from the new movie theater,  providing a stylish new option for dinner and a movie or a nightcap.

Designed around a Japanese Steakhouse concept with options for sushi, sashimi, maki & rolls and hibachi grill options, the new location also adds a sleek, sexy lava bar with a cool lounge sound and feel. Owners James and Sandy Cheng labored for more than a year on every decision from lighting to staffing to ensure their second location would bring the things that Croftonites loved about their original restaurant and add new, unique elements to bring a new dining experience to Crofton.

“Our new steakhouse and lava bar brings a little bit of New York and Tokyo to Crofton,” said James Cheng with a smile. “It still gives families the fun and flavor they love, as well as providing a cool nightlife hang out before or after a movie.”

Locals will find many of the old favorites on the menu alongside new hibachi items like Mahi-Mahi and Tuna for seafood lovers. The new bar concept brings many creative libations for those looking to add a little flair to their evening.
With the new location in full swing, the Chengs have added thirty new staff members to the Fuji family. Later, this year, the Chengs will close their original location in the Village at Waugh Chapel to update and transform the restaurant into a fine dining and sushi bar concept. Renovations are expected to be complete in March.

“Crofton has been such a great home for Fuji for the past 10 years. We’ve shared in the community’s birthdays, after game victories and just fun times,” Cheng said. “We can’t wait to bring even more great food and good fun to the Waugh Chapel Town Centre.”
