Beauty Steals at Trader Joe's
Green meets quality meets awesome price? At Trader Joe's, the answer is ABSOLUTELY.
One area where I'm more snob than frugalista is haircare.
I managed a beauty superstore shortly after high school and quickly became spoiled by salon shampoos. Mass market brands haven't seemed so nice to me since. Sure, I often wait for sales or the prepackaged deals to save a few dollars, but we all know salon products are much pricier than Pantene.
During this last (freezing!) winter, my scalp dried right up, so I decided to try Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree products to help remedy this. The combination of the shampoo and conditioner dried my hair right out, but I found that the Tea Tree Conditioner after another moisturizing shampoo worked perfectly for me.

The problem?
At normal salon price (around $13), the bottle was relatively tiny at just over 10 oz. It ran out quick. Did I really want to keep shelling money out for a product that lasted a lot less longer than my others?

Thankfully, shortly before I had to decide, I was on one of my routine trips to Trader Joe's in Annapolis.
I go once a month or so for a few specific items, but I was in a browsing mood that day and came across TJ's own line of tea tree products: shampoo, conditioner, face wash, and body wash.
I'd tried another of their face washes before with success and I love tea tree oil for it's many uses overall, so I bought the whole line sans shampoo. I think all the products together cost less than the Paul Mitchell conditioner alone.
Even better - all the products, save the face wash, come in generous 16 oz. bottles. Oh, and for all you greenies out there, it is cruelty free and many of the ingredients are certified organic.I figured for the low price, even if I hated the product, I wouldn't be at a huge loss. Fortunately, that's not the case.
I bought everything about two weeks ago and have seen great results!
My hair feels just as great as it did when using the salon conditioner, and the face and body wash are both very refreshing in the summer weather. Definitely worth a try next time you need to stock up on beauty products.
