The Crofton boys' basketball teams continued to find success in the first part of the Anne Arundel County league season.
In the 8-U Wake Forest "B" league, Crofton beat SCYA. That victory put coach Richard Gloeckler's team in a tie for first place – in Division II – with Harundale. The same age group saw Crofton beat SCYA Storm III in the first week of play previously for coach Andrew Stangroom.
Crofton also won in the 10-U Miami "B" league, beating the SRYA Seahawks. That win moved Crofton to 2-0 on the season for coach Todd Lenhart, and the team sits alone in first place there.

The 10-U Kentucky "C" league sees another Crofton team on top. Crofton beat GGB in that game and improved to 2-0 this season and moved into a tie for first with Arden in Division I.
In the 12-U Gonzaga "A" division, Crofton won its first game the previous weekend, topping the SRYA Shooters for coach Robert McRobie.

The 12-U Connecticut "C" division has another Crofton team in first place. Crofton's win over SCYA for coach Damon Gunson improved its record to 2-0 this season. That moved Crofton into a first-place tie with Severna Park in Division II.
Crofton didn't fare quite as well in the 12-U Pittsburgh "C" league, where coach Kathleen Lane's team fell to GORC in the first game for both the weekend before that.
The oldest league has another Crofton team on top. Coach Robert Taylor's Crofton squad beat the Green Hornets to improve to 2-0. That moved them into a tie for first with Harundale in that league.
These games last weekend were the final scheduled contests until after the New Year. The scheduled picks up again in early January, but teams are able to play in a tournament the county puts on next week.
No new scores were reported in the girls league this week, but they'll also begin play again after the holidays unless they're in the tournament.
