Crofton Man Arrested On Drug, Gun Charges After I-95 Stop
A Crofton man was pulled over on I-95 for not wearing a seatbelt. State Police found drugs a gun, and cash in his car.

CROFTON, MD – Maryland State Police have charged an Anne Arundel County man with possession of drugs and a gun after he was stopped on I-95 in Cecil County for not wearing a seatbelt.
Kahlil Sharif Burnam, 38, of Crofton, was charged with three counts of felony possession of a firearm, and one count of felony possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute. He was also charged with five misdemeanors relating to the possession of the firearm and drugs, police say.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on July 4, a Maryland state trooper saw Duval not wearing his seatbelt while driving a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro northbound on I-95 near the 98.8 mile marker. When the trooper pulled over the car he smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the Camaro turned up 714 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a .40 caliber Glock handgun with three loaded magazines and $344 in cash.

A background check revealed Duval is prohibited from possessing firearms.
After his initial appearance with a court commissioner, Burnam was held in the Cecil County Detention Center without bond. After a bond hearing the following day, his bond was then set at $10,000 and he was released pending trial after posting $1,000 bail.
