Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. A few years ago, I began a journey to create a nonprofit dedicated to supporting cancer patients here in Prince George&rsquo;s County. It&rsquo;s been a long and meaningful road, and I&rsquo;m excited to share that we are getting very close to launching our services.
As many know, the cancer journey requires far more than medical treatment. True healing and thriving also depend on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual support. Our mission is to provide wellness services that help individuals navigate life during and after a cancer diagnosis.
We&rsquo;re currently looking for support from our community:
&#10024; Pro bono instructors 
We are seeking a few additional volunteers to lead yoga and meditation
sessions. If you&mdash;or someone you know&mdash;might be interested, we would love to connect.
&#10024; Board Members 
We are also expanding our Board of Directors and seeking passionate individuals who want to make a meaningful impact. Current needs include: 
&bull; A Treasurer with a nonprofit accounting background 
&bull; Board members with experience in social media, fundraising, donor relations, sponsorships, or grants
