How Did the Local 12U Club Team Do in National Baseball Tournament?

The Gambrillis War Dogs competed against 103 teams at the 2014 American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational.

The Gambrillis War Dogs 12U team recently competed in the 2014 American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational, the biggest tournament in the United States, where they made it to the Final Four.

The weeklong tournament took place at Cooperstown Dream Park in Cooperstown, NY, where 104 teams gathered from 30 different states.

During the first round of the tournament, each team played six pool play games. The Gambrillis War Dogs finished with a 5-1 record during pool play. The teams went on to compete in a single-elimination playoff tournament where the War Dogs made it to the Final Four, coming in third place overall at the tournament.

“These boys exude a passion for the game that is unparalleled,” Coach Matthew Merchant wrote in an email to Patch. “They give it 110 percent year round and are the hardest-working, most dedicated group of young men we have had the privilege of coaching. Congratulations War Dogs on such a great accomplishment!”
