May Baskets: Annapolis 2014

I am a sucker for color.
And after this winter... lordy am I ready for Spring to set up.

Crofton actually had a May Basket campaign going this year (kudos to you for that) but I am unable to find any obvious participants around the parkway. So I went to where I know I can find doorways strewn with lavish and ornate color. I went to Annapolis.

Truth told - I took these photos on May 3rd. So this is not the freshest these baskets looked in their lifespan. And I took most of these photos jumping in and out of my car. I dragged my mother and son along as spotters.

Mom knows where the good baskets are because she lives in Annapolis and walks everywhere, knows everyone, has been in every house. Honestly, it's hard to move fast on foot with her because everyone stops to talk to her. It's like walking a Golden Retriever puppy. So I opted for the vehicle. She still talked to every person we passed  - but it was more like "Hi Julie! Looking great! Are those Peonies? Oh, okay I'll catch you later... we're on the move! Oh, Hi Bill. {honey slow down} Bill, I want to call you later this week to hear how your trip was! We're out taking photos of the May Baskets {Slow DOWN!} Bye Bill!"

My son Shorty was in the back with the task of trying to spot May Basket doorways. He couldn't tell the difference between a planter and Basket.. so he was continually yelling "THERE'S ONE! AND THERE'S ONE TOO!" at every other house. And the dog was in the car. I should have introduced a frightened large bird to the collective. That is about all that was missing from this recipe for chaos.

Anyways, here is a quick look at what we found. It is just a sampling of what is a much larger group. Some are May Baskets - some are just lovely doorways. Big Props to the people that participated. It was evident a lot of love and care ... and glitter ribbon went into these arrangements.
