Richard Stack finished his first book, "The Doggonest Christmas" in 1988, after 200 revisions over a four-year period.  He had been challenged to write a book upon watching a Christmas special for children that he felt taught the wrong values to children.  Richard was unable to find a publisher, and so printed 10,000 copies at his own expense. A trial attorney, Richard retired his law practice in 1989 and went on the road with Josh, The Wonder Dog, his first star wonder dog.

Over the next twenty years, Richard performed over 3000 assemblies at schools across the United States.

Josh is recognized by "The Guinness Book of World Records" as the most-petted dog in history. Josh was succeeded in 1997 by  Recess, The Wonder Dog, and in 2007 by Henry, the eighth wonder of the world. Richard’s first book was followed by "The Doggonest Vacation," "The Doggonest Puppy Love," "Josh, The Story Of Wonder Dog," and "Steamer And Shelly Go To Pot." Richard was born in 1942, and resides with Henry VIII in the Linthicum Height, Maryland home his parents built in 1947.
