More Than 1,750 Students, Staff At AACPS In Quarantine Due To COVID-19
More than 1,750 students and staff with Anne Arundel County Public Schools are in quarantine due to COVID-19.
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — More than 1,750 students and staff at Anne Arundel County Public Schools are quarantining due to either positive COVID-19 test results or have been exposed to someone who tested positive. There are 204 students and 27 staff members considered to be active cases. As of Thursday, the top three schools for active student cases are 23 at Chesapeake High School, 12 at Old Mill Middle South and 11 at Northeast Middle School.
AACPS consists of 128 schools serving approximately 83,000 students with a staff of more than 6,826 teachers.
According to the school district, those in quarantine also include individuals who have COVID-like symptoms and are probable cases. The data is pulled from tracing done in school and in the community.

As of Sept. 30, there have been 50,469 confirmed COVID-19 cases total during the pandemic in Anne Arundel County, 720 confirmed COVID-related deaths total and 46 people currently in the hospital with COVID-19. More than half of the county's population is fully vaccinated, 338,753 people, and 351,148 residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Some clinics are held at the Anne Arundel Community College (Arnold), Baymeadow (Glen Burnie), Lula G. Scott Community Center (Shady Side) and the Pip Moyer Recreation Center (Annapolis).
