Odenton Giant Store Open for Business Friday

ODENTON, MD — The doors of Odenton’s new Giant Food store -- located in the totally renovated former site of Super Fresh – will open Friday, Dec. 11.

The store at 1155 Annapolis Road will open at 6 a.m. Giant, located in the Odenton Shopping Center, will employ 150 associates.

The grand opening of the new Odenton Giant will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Giant leadership, local elected officials, and business leaders on Thursday, Dec. 10. The store will be open to the public starting Friday.

During the grand opening event, Giant donate $5,000 to the Gambrills Odenton Recreation Council, an organization that is dedicated to the development of the community’s young people through athletics.

“We are very excited to bring a brand new 63,000-square foot Giant store to anchor the Odenton Shopping Center,” said Gordon Reid, president of Giant Food, based in Landover. “It is our pleasure to serve Odenton residents and the surrounding Fort Meade community with an enhanced shopping experience to help customers save money, save time, and eat well.”

The Odenton Giant includes a variety of updated features and amenities throughout the store, such as a new, market-style produce section with an expanded selection of organic produce. Inside the 63,000-square foot store customers will find a full-service deli with premium meats and gourmet cheeses, as well as complete meat and seafood departments with fresh seafood and meat selections from an in-store butcher.

The chain says the Odenton location has a “Bakery of the Future,” offering fresh baked goods including a variety of artisan breads and muffins, a bagel bin, and bread bar. A prepared foods section includes fresh sushi, a fresh pizza station, prepared hot food options, and a fresh fruit and salad bar.

Odenton shoppers also have access to a full-service Giant Pharmacy, on-site PNC Bank, and an in-store Starbucks café with free Wi-Fi. Customers can use “SCAN IT!” hand-held devices, which allow them to scan and bag their groceries while they shop.
