Serenity Acres Treatment Center Names Dr. Mark Illuminati Medical Director

CROWNSVILLE, Md.—Serenity Acres Treatment Center, which provides inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, named Dr. Mark Illuminati medical director. In his new position, Illuminati oversees the Serenity Acres staff and meets with clients to manage medical issues and support addiction recovery.

Illuminati brings more than 20 years of experience in addiction treatment and has served in nearly every treatment setting, including outpatient, residential and maintenance management. He also serves as medical director for Gaudenzia, which operates drug and alcohol treatment programs in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.

Prior to joining Serenity Acres, Illuminati was medical director for Hampden Health Solutions at the Rail, a treatment center in Baltimore. Previously, he was medical director for Silverman Treatment Solutions in Columbia and a consultant in addiction medicine for Baltimore Behavioral Health in Baltimore. Illuminati has served as medical director for treatment centers throughout Maryland, including Father Martin’s Ashley.

He participates in MedChi: The Maryland State Medical Society, where he serves as a committee member and with the Physician Health Advocacy Program. He is also a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the Maryland Society of Addiction Medicine.

Illuminati holds certifications from the American Board of Addiction Medicine and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He completed his residency at New York Medical College and earned his medical certification from Rutgers Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Mexico. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven in Connecticut.

He lives in Baltimore.
