Tandem Bike Riders Flown To Hospital After Crofton Crash
Two people riding a tandem bike were hurt in a crash with another bike in Crofton; they were flown to an area hospital.

CROFTON, MD — Two bicyclists were injured Monday afternoon when the tandem bike they were riding collided with another cyclist in Crofton. Anne Arundel County firefighters responded to the 1500 block of Elwyn Avenue just before 2 p.m. where they located a collision between two bicycles.
A 69-year-old man in the front seat of the tandem bike and a 69-year-old woman riding in the back seat both suffered serious injuries, the fire department said. Paramedics requested a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter, which landed at Crofton Elementary School.
Both patients were taken to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said. The rider of the other bike was not hurt.

Authorities have not released the names of the injured riders or their hometowns.
