Two-Alarm Condo Fire in Crofton Causes $100K in Damage
Fire departments from two counties and Fort Meade put out the blaze, which damaged three condo units.

CROFTON, MD — Three units were damaged, but no injuries were reported, in a two-alarm condominium fire early Tuesday morning in Crofton, official said.
Just after 3 a.m. Anne Arundel County firefighters responded to the 1400 block of Orleans Court for a report of a dwelling fire. The first firefighters on the scene reported smoke coming from the bottom unit of a three-story, end-of-the-row condominium building.
Firefighters requested a second alarm, bringing 50 firefighters from Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties, Fort Meade and the City of Annapolis. The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes.

Members of the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the fire. Preliminarily, investigators believe the cause of the fire was accidental.
Damage is estimated at $100,000 to the unit of origin and two adjacent units which sustained damage.

The fire department says the building’s occupants were alerted to the fire by working smoking alarms, allowing them time to escape. Displaced occupants are staying with friends and family.
