Why Go? This poker tournament and silent auction is open to the public and will benefit the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society and raise money for Matthew "Matty" Wilson, a 3-year-old fighting his second round with leukemia.

When/Where: Now through Labor Day at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore
Why Go? With school starting back up in a few weeks, get the kids to start thinking about science again while having fun.

Free with paid admission to the Maryland Science Center


When/Where: 8 a.m. Sunday at Prince George's County Stadium in Bowie
Why Go? The Bowie Baysox will host the first ever Bowie Baysox 5K & Kids Fun Run to raise money for local charities. An Inflatable T-Ball Batting Cage allows kids to take three swings for $1.
Cost:
5K is $30, Kids' Fun Run is $15 (register in advance)
