BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Two indoor pools in Baltimore County will open in mid-October as part of a pilot initiative prompted by residents.
Both the Dundalk and Randallstown indoor pools will operate under county management through at least the end of the year, offering residents a low-cost swimming option.
Through the pilot program, residents will be able to use either six-lane pool through discounted monthly memberships and daily rates that start as low as $10 and $3, respectively.
An open house for the Dundalk pool will take place Oct. 10, whereas the Randallstown event gets underway Oct. 17. Both dates land on Saturday and run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The official opening day for the Dundalk pool is Oct. 14. Swimmers wanting to hit the water at the Randallstown pool will be cleared to access the facilities on Oct. 19. See pool hours here.
The opening comes after more than 800 residents responded to a county survey and participated in two public sessions where it was made clear that affordable fitness options were desired.
"Baltimore County residents of all ages deserve amenities that contribute to enhancing their health and quality of life," Baltimore County Councilmember Julian Jones said in a statement.
"I am thrilled to see this pilot aquatics program launch in both Dundalk and Randallstown, which will help preserve vital programming for older residents and expand recreational opportunities for residents and families alike."
The county said it is looking to expand its fitness classes as it also looks to hire lifeguards for the pilot program.
Residents can find the Dundalk pool at 15 Commerce Street and the Randallstown center at 3505 Resource Drive.
