Baltimore County Police: Officer Involved Death Under Investigation

Baltimore County detectives continue to investigate a series of incidents that occurred within the Woodlawn Precinct, reports indicate.

Baltimore County detectives continue to investigate a series of incidents that occurred within the Woodlawn Precinct on Monday, October 11, 2021. At this point, the Baltimore County Police Department continues to assist the Maryland Office of the Attorney Generalโ€™s Independent Investigations Division and Maryland State Police as they conduct a joint-investigation into the officer involved death of a civilian. Earlier, investigators located a weapon believed to be tied to this morningโ€™s incident. The Baltimore County police officer involved in discharging his firearm remains on administrative leave. A preliminary investigation shows only one officer fired his weapon.

Roadways in and around the area of Windsor Mill Road have been reopened.

ORIGINAL (October 11, 2021 9:25 a.m.):

Shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, Baltimore County Police responded to the 6700 block of Windsor Mill Road for an armed robbery. A preliminary investigation reveals the suspects were then involved in a hit and run at Dogwood Road and Gwynn Oak Avenue while attempting to escape from police. Following that crash, itโ€™s believed several people bailed out of the vehicle. A Baltimore County Police Officer located one individual at the corner of Englewood and Gilmore Street where the two exchanged gunfire. During that exchange an officer suffered injuries to his lower body; he was not shot. The officer was transported to an area hospital. A deceased person was later located nearby by K-9 units. The investigation into the officerโ€™s actions will be conducted by the Maryland Attorney Generalโ€™s Officeโ€™s Independent Investigations Division and the MSP, with assistance by the Baltimore County Police Department.
