Dundalk Man Killed Sunday in Motorcycle Accident

Driver and a surviving passenger were thrown from the motorcycle after hitting a guardrail.

A Dundalk man died Sunday night when the motorcycle he was driving struck a guardrail on Route 40 near North East in Cecil County, Maryland State Police said Tuesday. A female passenger on the motorcycle survived.

Giovanni Zajcevski, 59, was the driver of the 1996 Honda Gold King motorcycle involved in the accident. He and his passenger, 51-year-old Alice Mary Walston, also of Dundalk, were thrown from the motorcycle on impact after hitting a guardrail. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.

“Witnesses said he might have hit some water—it had just started raining,” said Sgt. Joseph Comer, of the Maryland State Police barrack in North East. Comer said the stretch of Route 40 near Mechanics Valley Road where the accident took place is a two-lane road with a grassy median and is popular among motorcyclists.
