I was on the phone with a distraught relative, who discussed the devastation this incident had caused the family. I know the family member who contacted me regarding the incident, who told me it was important for the family to get closure. To that end, the family was inquiring as to the chances of the suspect being apprehended.

I knew by the sound of the distraught family member that justice would be a big part of that closure. The family member was asking me, as a retired county police officer, what I thought. I gave assurance that the Baltimore County Homicide Unit was one of the best in the country and there was no way the perpetrator would get away.

About that same time, Mr. Fillion called me and stated that he thought there may have been an apprehension in the case. Mr. Fillion was seeking more details, and I offered my assistance because I knew how important closure would be to the family.

I was able to confirm an apprehension and advised Mr. Fillion that the suspect was indeed in custody pending charges. I felt a sudden sense of relief from the family members. I also was proud of those detectives who did one hell of job in bringing this family some peace of mind, knowing that justice would be served.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the Baltimore County Police Department for bringing some peace and solace in knowing the suspected killer of Mrs. Fillion was apprehended.

Kudos to, as I said, one of the finest homicide units in the country.
