Harlem Superstars Coming to Dundalk CCBC
The comedy basketball fundraiser is scheduled for Oct. 27.
This is no average basketball game.
Lions men’s basketball of Community College of Baltimore County Dundalk is hosting the Harlem Superstars at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27—and they hope the event will go a long way toward supporting the team.
"[The Harlem Superstars] slam dunk; they dance; they interact with the audience, especially young children, and they will make you laugh out loud. Not only that, but they play great basketball featuring the talents of Chris 'Super Chicken' Turnquist of the Bahamian National team, Johnny 'Magic' Dadzie of Southern Illinois University, Kevin 'Showboat' Jackson of Central Connecticut University and many more," the college announced on Friday.

The event is expected to sell out. Proceeds will be used to support the basketball program, according to the college.
Local CBS radio celebrities Jeremy Conn and Rob Long (who also coaches Dundalk women’s basketball) are expected to attend. Notable basketball players Romone Penny, senior point guard at American University, and Ricardo Laing, a Dundalk alum who scored 1000 points while playing for CCBC, also plan to appear.

James Hellmann, assistant coach at CCBC Dundalk, came up for the idea for the fundraiser and has distributed more than 8,000 flyers to local schools and churches, according to the announcement.
“If this proves to be as successful as we think it will be, we hope to make it an annual fundraising event,” stated Dave Mintzer, Dundalk athletics administrator.
