Man Convicted In Rape Of 11-Year-Old Girl In Dundalk: Official

Royal Quinn has been convicted of first-degree rape, attempted first-degree rape and kidnapping in a case involving an 11-year-old girl.

DUNDALK, MD โ€” A jury has convicted Royal Quinn of first-degree rape, attempted first-degree rape and kidnapping in a case involving an 11-year-old girl. The trial lasted four days.

โ€œToday we are assured that a very dangerous man will be in jail for a very long time. The victim was so strong to walk into the courtroom and tell this terrible story. She is truly brave," Baltimore County Stateโ€™s Attorney Scott Shellenberger said.

On Dec. 2, 2019, an 11-year-old girl was walking along a trail near the baseball fields of Norwood Elementary School in Dundalk. Quinn grabbed the girl from behind, dragged her to a grassy area and threw her on the ground. According to court documents, he pulled the girl's pants down and sexually assaulted her. When Quinn took off, the girl ran to the school for help.

Video footage and additional evidence led investigators to Quinn. His sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 16. The state will be seeking a sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
