Readers' Choice: Boulevard the Favorite Sandwich Place

In this week's Readers' Choice, we asked you to vote for your favorite sandwich place in Dundalk.

While Donna's Restaurant and Tavern was the runaway winner in the popular vote, reviews for the Boulevard Diner written in the Dundalk Patch Directory snagged the sandwich bragging rights for the Merritt Boulevard eatery.

The Boulevard becomes Dundalk Patch's first multiple winner of a Readers' Choice award. The diner also was voted the town's favorite breakfast place.

Because the poll is not scientific, votes cast in the poll and reviews posted on the business' directory listing count equally in tabulating the winner each week

Votes cast and reviews each count for 50 percent of the total score. The top three businesses in each category receive points (10, 8 and 6 points for first, second and third, respectively) and the same process is used for the top three review recipients.

The top three vote recipients were Donna's, the Boulevard and The Bull Pen.

Donna's received 10 points for being the top vote-getter, but zero points for reviews written during the poll week.

The Boulevard Diner received just a fraction of the votes cast for Donna's, but the diner received three new reviews, which was good for first place in that category and therefore an additional 10 points.

Final score this week was Boulevard, 18 points; Donna's, 10 points; and The Bull Pen (15 votes), 6 points.

The Boulevard Diner was the only business to receive new reviews this week.

In her review of the Boulevard, Cindy Brooks wrote that she loves the diner and cited it for its "always fresh food" and "nice service."

"Still trying to pick my favorite sandwich—hey, that's hard to do here," she wrote.
